SOURCE Almost a year on since the disastrous Batman v Superman reached cinemas and rumblings surrounding the upcoming Batman spin-off have taken a negative turn. First, there was the curious case of Ben Affleck and directing the flick. The actor said on numerous times – despite rumours – that he would be helming the spin-off. However, only days after reiterating he would be directing, Warner Bros. and DC announced Affleck would no longer be working both sides of the camera. Now, rumours have begun to swell stating Affleck wants to leave the Caped Crusader… “Over the past four days, I’ve talked to three separate people, who are connected in some way, to what is going on over at Warner Bros,” Campea said. “They’re telling me that Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out. “He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore. I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman.”
I’ve never been more right about anything in my life. Nobody has had the jump on the Afflecks like I have. Two weeks ago I wrote about how Ben was broken and I didn’t think he could be fixed. Last week I said Casey is in dire need of rehab or an intervention. This week I’m saying the two of them might hold hands and end it all together. We all need to do our part and help stop a tragedy, if you see Ben on the streets maybe give him a dollar and a smile. It will go a long way.
But the real question here is why? Why does Ben want to quit? Nothing good can come from quitting, it solves nothing. Just because this current version of the hero is coming off of a shitty movie, and a small cameo in an even shittier movie, doesn’t mean all hope is lost. In fact, the only thing that would make things worse would be switching actors mid-stream. It makes NO SENSE. I actually think Affleck was the best part of those movies so I don’t get his sudden freak-out (yes I do, it’s called deep depression) and his attempts to cut ties with everything.
Ben has the unique opportunity of determining his general ranking in the all-time Batman actors club. If he sees this thing through he’ll be a debatable mid level Batman. Not too shabby. He’ll never be better than Christian Bale because.. well I don’t even need to explain that. BUT if he quits right now then he gets sent to the bottom. Yes the bottom, just beneath Val Kilmer…
So, dear Benjamin. Please think this through. Please don’t do anything drastic. Don’t be worse than Val Kilmer. Think of your family, your kids, your equally depressed brother. Don’t forget about Matt Damon because he loves you too. We all do.
Don’t do it Ben.
Don’t quit on us.
